Pond Farm

Sunday morning we went to Pond Farm, a working farm in just near Langemark in Belgium. Bill had been communicating with Stein, a 23 year old, who has been collecting stuff that they have found on their farm over the years. The Germans had used the farm as a base, it originally had a hospital bunker and another bunker on it. The farm had been destroyed and as part of the repatriation the Germans had to rebuild the farm, so he showed us e German roof tiles and German cobblestones. Stein showed us his museum with all the stuff that he had collected over the years, it was just fascinating. In the photos Bill is holding shrapnel that was in the shells that were fired, also a gas shell and the glass gas battle inside. Bill's grandfather was gassed in the war.
