The Third Dog

Amy keeps asking if we can have a third dog, and the answer is no! She sort of got her wish these last few weeks, but not really!

Boots is the dog next door, she looks a bit dopey but she is a lovely natured dog and she has been coming around for regular visits! Boots was used to a yard full of dogs but they have all now gone, so I think she is a little bored, so she is always coming to visit our two dogs. Somehow she manages to escape out of the cage she is left in, jump their shoulder high side gate, come around to our place, jump our side gate and spend the day with our dogs and make herself at home! She fits right in and she and Benji have a great time running and playing in the back yard. Boots took Benji on an explore the other week, they disappeared for a couple of hours, but finally came home! We thought we must have left the side gate open but it turns out Boots can undo gate latches!

We haven't had any visits this week much to Amy's disappointment, it seems Jess may have finally worked out how to keep Boots locked up, but at least when she did escape she was somewhere safe and didn't seem to want to escape our yard!

Cold Canberra

It has been very cold and windy this week in Canberra. Friday, Saturday and Sunday saw the winds die down but we did get some cold, frosty starts with minus 4's and everything being white and the dog water bowls and chook water bowls being frozen!

Amy Goes To Sydney for Supa Nova

It's a bit scary when your kids have minds of their own and want to go away with friends without you! Amy went up to Sydney this weekend to go to the Supa Nova exhibition in Sydney- cartoon, science fiction, nerdy stuff, anima, manga, star trekky stuff, that I know nothing about. She has a group of friends that play Dungeons and Dragons, and have been out a place a number of times to play, they seem to be a really nice group of young people. One of the girls is 21 and has her own car, so they organised a trip up to Sydney, stayed in the Meriton Serviced Apartments in Parramatta and had a great weekend. I texted Amy a number of times to make sure she had arrived safely, but it all went without incident and they had great fun! It is scary having your kids grow up! The photos above are some of the things she bought at the expo, she even got some Lego earrings, but the photos of those did not turn out so well, will try taking a photo another time.

We had a birthday dinner and cheescake for the birthday cake, I wasn't supposed to put a candle on and Lachlan refused to blow it out! We all enjoyed the cheescake though!

Lachlan's Birthday

Lachlan is no longer a teenager- he turns 20 today! The first picture shows how I chose to wrap Lachlan's presents, the rest of the photos show what Lachlan had to do to unwrap the present from his father and sister!

Possum Magic

We have a possum in our back yard and it is driving Benji our wolfhound crazy! He has to go out on possum patrol each night. In the freezing cold he just sits outside under the tree where the possum is and stares up at the possum for hours on end. If the possum moves, Benji follows! We have to drag him inside when we are ready to go to bed. We are feeding him inside at the moment because if he is outside he will not eat all his dinner because he has to get back on possum watch duty! At least we will not be attacked by possums in our sleep. Benji keeps us safe from possums, Amy keeps us safe from Zombies, and Lachlan keeps us safe from terrorists!

Old Photos

Nothing much of any significance has been happening in the Frost Household this week. Lachlan is on holidays from Uni- well he still has two exams and handed in an assignment this week, but he tends to not emerge till the early afternoon! Amy has school and assessments due and we have had all our weekends away so there is not much news to report. I have embarked on a project- to organise all my digital photos. I have been going through and deleting photos and trying to organise them into more logical folders and just tidy everything up! This will keep me busy for ages I think. However it brings back memories of different holidays and times in our lives so in some ways it is quite fun! I found these photos of the kids when they were younger playing in the garden and also when they decided to dress Sarkule up in Amy's dressing gown and slippers! They used to be so cute! Lachlan only has a week of being a teenager left- where has the time gone?

Breakfast from the Victoria Market

Sunday morning while Amy was having a sleep in I went for a walk along the Yarra and then wandered down to the Victoria Markets. I love wandering the aisles of the food hall and looking at all the cheeses, breads, cakes, dips and goodies. Brought some fresh fruit, bread and dips for our brunch and took them back to the hotel and woke Amy up!

Dinner in Footscray and Desert in Lygon Street

Saturday night Amy and I caught the train out to Footscray, where we meet my mum, 3 of my brothers and their family and had a family dinner to celebrate my sister in law- Arlene, becoming an Australian citizen. We had a lovely dinner and it was nice to catch up with everyone. Amy and I got a lift back into the city but we had to go via Lygon Street to get a gelato- so we just had to go along with the crowd!

Melbourne Trams and Buildings

I enjoyed going for a walk around the streets of Melbourne, exploring the little arcades, and catching the trams. I like Melbourne- especially when the weather was so nice- couldn't complain about Melbourne weather for once.

Hot Chocolate at the Lindt Cafe

We were catching the Skybus up to our hotel to drop of our luggage and wondered if Melbourne had a Lindt Cafe, a few minutes later we drove past the Lindt Cafe on Collins Street, just across the road from the Block Arcade which houses the Haighs Chocolate Shop so we had to call in sample its wares! We then headed up to the Melbourne Museum to see the Exhibition. It was very crowded but we got to see everything and really enjoyed it.

Tutankhamun and the Cheese Shop

Amy and I had a weekend down in Melbourne to see the Tutankhamun exhibition at the Melbourne Museum and catch up with family to celebrate my sister in law becoming an Australian citizen. We caught the plane down Saturday morning, stayed the night in the city at the Stamford Plaza in Little Collins Street, and caught the plane back early Sunday evening. We were only gone one night, but it seemed a lot longer than that and we had a great time. The highlights for Amy was the Tutankhamun Exhibition and then the visit to the Richmond Hill Cheese Shop and the tastings!

Scones, Jam and Cream

Lachlan wanted some scones during the week, so I told him that if he wanted them, he needed to make them. I would help him, so we had a scone making lesson last week and this is what he produced. We all sampled them and decided he had done a good job!
