Lollies

I remember when I was a little girl going to the Adelaide Central Market with my grandpa to buy fish lollies and aniseed balls, so while I was in Adelaide this weekend I took a trip down memory lane.

From Little Things Big Things Grow

This is the gum tree in Bill's parents back yard that they planted when he was young. They used to throw a ball across the top of the tree, don't think they could do so today!

Ormond Grove Adelaide

Some photos of the house Bill grew up in in Adelaide where his parents still live in Toorak Gardens.

Adelaide

Bill and I headed off to Adelaide to visit Bill's parents. We used our frequent flyer points with Virgin so did not cost us anything. Just our luck it was a hot weekend, 38 and 39 degrees so very hot! We still had a lovely time just catching up. We went to the Central Markets, went to a concert at the Festival Theatre of the Adelaide symphony Orchestra and just spent time catching up. I love the lovely old sandstone and blue stone houses of inner Adelaide. They also have concrete electricity poles known as stobie poles.

Arboretum at the National Capital

We rode up to Dairy Farmers Hill last week, quite a challenge!

Charlie and Jack

Back at our place Charlie had fun collecting eggs, picking tomatoes, filling up the water fountain, but I suspect his favourite thing was playing with Jack and having Jack snuggle up to him.

Fun Friday With Charlie

I got to spend Friday looking after Charlie, my nephew. I picked him up from his mum's work then we drove back to our place. On the way we called in at the new arboretum which has just opened and we went for a little drive to check it out. It is just magnificent and has wonderful views across Canberra. It is going to have a hundred forests of a hundred different trees. It has some great views and some great public art.

Garden Finally Producing

You know when you look at your zucchini one day and you come back the next day and it has turned into a baseball bat, well to date this had not been happening in my garden this year. My zucchini grew well, looked great and produced lots of little thumb sized zucchini and then it was like someone hit the hold switch and nothing would happen. Don't know if it was the extremely hot weather or lack of rain, but after the storm hit last weekend, more rain has fallen and the temperature has dropped the garden is finally producing. Zucchini are springing forth, tomatoes are ripening and the corn has finally grown some ears, so things are looking good and I just know the kids are looking forward to all tide wonderful zucchini dishes.

Walk Around Lanyon Valley

I have done lots of riding lately so when I woke up Saturday morning and it was cold and very windy I decided to stay in bed and finish my book. After breakfast I went for a lovely long walk that took me around the Lanyon Valley and got some wonderful views.
