Lachlan- Alias Snake

Lachlan was heading out to a 21st party last night, he came out dressed like this- he was Snake- a character from some computer game, I have no idea what game or who he is, but he looked pretty fierce! He came up with a pretty good costume seeing as though he was asking me about an hour before we had to leave where Bill kept his old army stuff and did I have any scissors! I couldn't have come up with anything like that at short notice. We were having dinner with Simon and Bindi and some other friends, so we all got a good laugh at Lachlan!

MRI of my Knee

I had to have an MRI of my knee this week, it has been sore since April and has not responded to physio, so further investigations were needed. I have not had anything like this done before so it was quite an experience and had to lie still for 20 minutes and then part with a lot of money for which I get none back! It turns out I have torn my meniscus as my boss predicted, so it is off to the specialist this week to find out when I have the arthroscopy which hopefully will fix it. I am just grateful I can still ride my bike without it hurting!

The Article

You Never Asked

I was reading the paper last week and read an article that quoted Bill Frost as the President of the Canberra Astronomical Society. At first I thought they had got in wrong, as I  didn't know he was President of the Canberra Astronomical Society, but then it occurred to me, knowing Bill, it could well be true and as I had never asked him- "Are you the president of the Canberra Astronomical Society? he had never told me. I knew he was on the committee, and goes off to regular meetings but not that he was the president. Sure enough when I asked him that night, yes it was true, and when I asked him why I hadn't been told- the response was as I expected- you never asked! Turns out he has been president since September last year!

Fun Family Picnic at Woods Reserve

We had a picnic  up at Woods Reserve today with Bindi and Simon and the kids. We were going to send up rockets at Orroral Valley but it was too windy so just went to Woods Reserve instead. Jack was able to come with us as pets were allowed, but Mia said only Jack was allowed. We had sausages on the gas BBQ, but the gas ran out so we finished them off on the fire pit, and then finished off  with toasted marshmallows and Jubilee Cup Cakes made by Bindi- and after all it was the Queens Birthday! We were told if anyone laughed at the Queen's Cupcakes we were not allowed to have any, so we all turned into Monarchists for a few minutes!

Car Meet Kangaroo- Kangaroo Wins

I had to go to Woden Plaza to pick up a script on Friday night, driving home down Athlon Drive a kangaroo appeared out of nowhere, it seemed to hit the car with an almighty thump, I stopped and pulled over,  getting out expecting to see the front of the car all smashed in but there appeared to be minimal damage. The kangaroo must have jumped and just caught the drivers side. I had a smashed headlight, still working but not the indicator, the bonnet is pushed in and the grill plate pushed in and the number plate was dangling down. I managed to screw that in, went to see if I could find the kangaroo, but it was long gone, and drove home slowly and the car seemed to be okay. I made a phone call to the insurance company to find out what to do, have to take the car in this week, will be interested to see how much it will cost to repair. Hopefully it will not be out of action for too long. This is my first claim on my car insurance in over 30 years of driving!

Lemon Tree

My lemon tree has two ripe lemons on it and a few more on the way. Have it tucked in against the wall to give it protection from the frost but plenty of sun!

Frosty Mornings at the Frosty Residence

It has been very cold in Canberra this week, we have had 3 minus 5's in a row, this morning it was only about minus 3 and by the time I got up around 8am the frost was starting to thaw so this photo does not really tell the real picture. As a result though we have had three beautiful sunny days which behind glass have just been lovely and even in the afternoon nice to just sit out in the sun.

Metrosexual Benji

Benji was lucky enough to go to work again with Amy this week. He came home beautifully washed, brushed and lovely painted red toe nails! We have the best groomed dogs in Gordon I suspect!
