Langemark German Cemetery

We went to a German cemetery, quite a contrast to the Allied Cemeteries with their white headstones and green manicured lawns. The German cemetery just had plaques on the ground and often there were six or eight bodies buried in the one spot. There are not many German cemeteries in Belgium as they only had a 40 year lease on the land and many of their soldiers bodies were taken back to Germany.

  1. This is one of our favourite cemeteries, if you can have such a thing. Definitely brought home to us that it didn't matter which side you were fighting on, it was such a waste of young lives.
