Malahide Castle and Gardens

Another wet day in Dublin but that didn't stop us having a good day. We caught the DART (train) out to Malahide and walked up to the castle. The castle had lovely gardens, including a butterfly enclosure. The Castle was owned by the Talbot Family and the last owner had links to Australia and collected a lot of Australian plants, when he died the castle was left to his sister who couldn't afford to run the castle so sold it to the Irish Government and moved to the family property in Tasmania.

We did a guided tour of the castle.

Behind this panel was a secret door where they used to hide the priest, it was dangerous to be a Catholic at this time.
