Day One Queen Charlotte Track
The view of Picton
Ships Cove- the start of the walk
Barb Mary and Bill- the happy trampers
We headed out by boat from Picton to take us to the start of our walk. Dolphins joined us at one stage and played along side the boat. We had an hour stop at Makoura Island where we got to see a number of native birds, many of which are rarely seen on the mainland these days. From there another boat took us across to Ship's Cove for the start of our walk. Ship's Cove is where Captain Cook landed in 1770 and claimed New Zealand for Britain! It was time to begin our walk and we had lovely weather and stunning views.
