Blue Mountains Trip Part 2

Day 3- Blackheath Rhododendron Gardens, Leura, Hydro Majestic and The Three Sisters at Echo Point

It was a misty, foggy morning and you couldn't see much. It had rained overnight but was relatively dry in the morning so we walked around Blackheath and discovered the Rhododendron Gardens. They were very extensive and it was quite atmospheric with the mist, so we had a lovely morning walk.

After breakfast we headed to Leura where we wanted to do the Cascades Walk but it started to rain quite heavily so abandoned that and went shopping in Leura instead. Leura had a strip of shops down either side of a middle strip of blossom trees, was very pretty. First stop was a lovely smelling chocolate shop, then a number of delis, cafes, art shops, we spent a couple of hours just checking them out. Then it was off to the Hyrdo Majestic for high tea. It was still pretty foggy so we were concerned that we would miss out on the lovely view of the Megalong Valley from the Hydro. Not long after we arrived the mist lifted and we enjoyed the view and the food!

It was a lovely way to while away a couple of hours

The view when we first came in, thankfully it lifted

The entrance hall

Afterwards we were able to wander through the hotel and see the areas that had been restored, it was very impressive

Time to leave and the mist was rolling in again

It wasn't far from Medlowbath to Katoomba so we thought we would pop down and see if the Three Sisters were visible. It wasn't looking good, but lady luck was with us and the mist blew through and we spent about an hour around Echo Point and we were able to walk down to Honeymoon Bridge which gives a closer view of the Three Sisters.

The mist rolled in and out but we were lucky and got some good shots. We head home tomorrow so glad we got to see them today!
