Hindenburg Line

Saturday we headed out to Bullecort which was as far west as Eric got. Here we looked at the St Quentin Canal, a 5 km canal that was built by Napoleon. During WW1 the Germans held it,they had it blocked at both ends with 35 barges in it,  it was supposedly impenetrable but the Americans and Australians took it and defeated the Germans. We saw a couple of barges being towed through the canal.

Bill taking a photo very close to where Eric would have taken his photo.
