Day 4 SLC

Day 4 in SLC saw me succumb to a cold, so my brain was a bit foggy but wasn't feeling too bad considering. We had a fairly easy day, mainly checking out a few local sights then doing  some shopping and packing as we head to Provo tomorrow.

Began the day by doing our washing- chance to sit and catch up on journals, phone calls etc.

This is the Kimball Hotel we we have been staying. It has been great, a one bedroom apartment, across the road from the Conference Centre and just up the hill from Temple Square.

Our hire car for the week

We headed out to a Desert Industry store, it is like a  giant Mormon Vinnie's. Found some bargain t-shirts for Bill- $2 each, that means he will wear them!

I found my new favourite cardigan for $6

I wanted to check out the interior of the City and Council Building, so Bindi indulged me. We were both very excited when we had to sign in at security and print of a sticker with our name and photo on it!

It is a very impressive and  intricate building on the outside

We were expecting it to be quite dramatic on the inside as well but it was relatively plain, but still nice.

View from the 3rd floor balcony

A friendly squirrel, I think it was wanting us to feed it.

I got to tick off another American fast food store, this time it was Chick-Fillet. I enjoyed my salad with the chopped chicken tenders in it. Tried some of Bind's waffle chips which were nice. I cannot come at Root Beer though, tastes like cough medicine to me.

We then headed across to the Family Search Library. They staff that helped us were so excited to hear we had come all the way from Australia. They helped us log into our Family Search Accounts, gave us a crash course in how to add names, then printed us up a fan chart of our family tree.

Way bigger than we thought they would be, they rolled them up and put them in a cardboard tube to protect them for us. The staff were so kind and lovely.

A final walk through Temple Square to check out some of the statues we hadn't had a chance to stop and look at

Had a bit of  a rest at our hotel, till it was time to drive up to Kaysville, the McSwains wanted to take us out for dinner. We went to the Texas Roadhouse. A fun experience.

We had fried pickles, bread rolls with yummy cinnamon butter.
Our meals came with a sweet potato- I went for the option of just cinnamon butter on mine, the thought of a loaded sweet potatoes ( brown sugar, caramel sauce, and marshmallows) just was too sweet for me. Bindi ordered country fried chicken- it had a plate of its own!

Another great day, and so lovely to spend time with the McSwain's
