Day 2 Salt Lake City

We started our Sunday in SLC by going to Music and the Spoken Word at the Tabernacle with the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square ( previously known as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir). It is a live broadcast each Sunday. It was a great experience and we got shuffled over at the last minute into some centre row seats, I think one of the ushers spotted we had put up our hand about being from overseas! We could just walk over from our hotel "The Kimball"

We headed to church at the 18th North Ward, an inner city ward, - no kids or youth- anyone who moves into any ward  in that Stake with children or youth gets assigned to one Ward and they run Youth and Primary! We were made to feel very welcome and they insisted we stay for there Linger Longer meal after church.

I went for a walk around the area while Bindi had a sleep, she had only slept two hours during the night so we feeling jet lagged. I cheat and take sleeping tablets for the first couple of nights so was actually feeling a bit more with it.

This was a lovely little park not far from where we are staying

It had statues and signs depicting what life was like for the early settlers

It was a lovely spring day with lots of blossom trees- so pretty

The Eagles Gate

I walked down to this building we had driven past to find out what it was- the City and Council Hall- so impressive on the outside.

Just some more lovely old buildings

As a geography nerd this caught my attention- all measurements for the planning of Salt Lake City were taken from this point!

We then we headed up to Elder and Sister McSwain's house, the YSA Senior Couple who had left Canberra 2 weeks ago. They were feeling homesick for Canberra so were so delighted to see us. They took us up to their son's place and we had dinner with him and his family and went for a tour of their lovely property and met their animals. Their house was just amazing.

Their house was amazing!

Lovely views of the mountains. This was their trout pond. They also had chickens, fainting goats, highland cows and the cutest sheep.

Highland Cows

Milo the Valais Black Faced sheep who was very good at baaing

Little Possie the sheep who followed the cows around and thought he was a cow!

This might be S'Mores the goat who tried to eat my jumper!

We felt very spoilt and loved, the McSwains and their families were so kind to us.
