We hit some of the tourist sites in SLC today. I started off with an early morning walk.
Went to the Church History Museum to start with, gives a good overview of the history of the church and how it ended up in SLC
Then it was up to the State Capitol Building. It was a very impressive building, just up the hill from where we were staying. We wanted to do a tour, but the only option was with a group of Year 5 kids, it was so noisy inside with all the school kids so we opted for a self guided tour. Very impressive building.
Lots of marble, the place echoed with all the school kids running around.
Then it was across to the Daughters of Pioneers Museum- a very old style museum with all sorts of curiosities packed in.
We then had lunch at the Olive Garden- all you can eat salad, soup and breadsticks for $10USD. It was pretty good. They even offered to give us a take home pack of soup and another soda water!
We then did a bit of shopping- Deseret Book Store, Target - had 70 percent of candy so picked up some Bindi Bargains!
We then went down to Alpine where we were catching up with Bindi's friend Jamie and her husband Donavan. This is her dad's place where they are currently living ( in a separate section without all the animal art work)
It is on every surface- has to be seen to be believed. You need to watch where you walk.
Jamie is expecting a baby in July, so we were there for her baby shower. We got to meet her friends and neighbours, it was a lovely evening and she has lots of people to look after her when the baby comes.
Finally back at the Kimball- I have ended up with a bit of stuff and it is only Day 3! Fortunately we are leaving our large suitcases behind while we go off traveling.
