RIP Luna

On Saturday morning before heading off to prepare for the High Tea I went out to see where Luna was as she hadn't been inside that morning. She was out in the garden and seemed a bit quiet, Bill took out some water to her but she wasn't interested. It told Amy, who had a look at her, checked her gums and thought they were a bit pale, so thought it might be a good idea to get her checked out at the vet. I headed off, Amy rang the vet and Bill took her in. I got a message from Amy a couple of hours later to say that she was at the vet's, they couldn't find anything noticably wrong but would do an ultrasound. I thought everything was okay. I got a phone call from Bill a couple of hours later just as things were winding up to say the ultrasound had shown internal bleeding, there was a mass in her spleen that had burst. Being an 11 year old dog, an operation was just something that would give us more time but not necessarily be the best for her, so after consultation with the vet and Bill, Amy and I we decided it was time to say goodbye. It was heart breaking, and especially hard given the suddeness of it and coming so soon after losing Jack. We have all been moping around the house for the past few day. We are so glad we have little Lucy around to give us some comfort, otherwise we would have had no dogs in the house.
