Begijnhof

Tucked away in a little street was a door and when you walked through you entered into Begijnhof an enclave of women from different religions. There were houses and a church and gardens, it was so peaceful in the middle of the hustle and bustle of a city a real treasure that could so easily be missed.

Amsterdam

Have arrived in Amsterdam and what a delightful city with it's narrow streets and houses, it's canals and not to mention all the bikes!

Singapore by Day

Our self appointed guide, Sam, who we later had to pay, but it was worth every cent, took us for a wonderful wander around Singapore showing us the local shortcuts and sights. We saw Marina Bay Sands, Gardens By the Bay, Helix Bridge and a view of Singapore from the 70 th floor of some hotel. We finished of the day at a local hawker centre where lunch cost us $3.50. A great day.

Singapore's Chinatown

We were about a 10 minute walk from Chinatown so spent the afternoon wandering the streets and visiting the temples and mosques in the area.

More Singapore

Wandered along the Singapore River and enjoyed the sound and light show at Marina Bay Sands

Changi POW Camp

After our breakfast of French toast, fruit, dumplings, milo for me and kofi for Bill, both made with lashings of condensed milk at a cost of about $6 we headed out to the Changi Chapel and Museum. It was very moving and I had tears in my eyes many times.

Singapore Day one

We got an upgrade with our room and got chocolates, wine and rose petals in the bathtub as I had emailed them with some room requests and told them we were on our second honeymoon!
We are staying at Clarke Quay and wandered along the river and enjoyed the warm air and the night life. Bill was happy when we found ice creams from a little street vendor for $1. He just loves a bargain. He did not want to try the sweet corn ice cream though.
