July seems to have been a really busy month with lots on.
Headed out with some of my cycling friends to do check out the new walks out at Strathnairn. It had lovely views of the Murrumbidgee on the the northern NSW/ACT border, there were also a couple of suspension/swing bridges- one of my favourite things. I love walking out in the bush and always fun to discover new places in your town.
Abby and Lachlan acquired a dog, his name is Murphy and we finally got to go around and meet him. We were his first visitors and he was excited to see us, but settled down pretty quickly. They are not really sure what type of dog he is, he is around 1 year old, is a rescue dog, they felt they were in the situation to be able to get a dog that had been in the pound for quite a while, Murphy fitted the bill, he seems to be a lovely dog.
We had a family dinner in July, with Bindi and the kids and Abby and Lachlan. Bindi made a birthday cake for Lachlan- his birthday was back in June. It was a Dead Sheep Cake- we had a lot of laughs over this. When Lachlan was 3 he was driving back from Sydney with Bill, they stopped at Lake George and was throwing stones into the lake and saw some sheep skeletons which he was just fascinated by. He decided he wanted to have a "Dead Sheep Cake" for is 4th birthday, when it got closer, he decided he wanted a fire party that year and would postpone the Dead Sheep Cake till his 5th birthday, that cake never did make an appearance till his 33rd birthday, just a few years later. Bindi did a much better job than I ever could.
Had been busy at church on a couple of Monday's recently helping out with some refreshments for some funerals. First there was a funeral for Alan Sambono, held at Lyneham Chapel, then two weeks later at the funeral for Helen Keirnan, the mother/mother in law of Emma and Micheal Stuart, good friends of ours. It was lovely to be able to do something for both of those families, and be able to tell them not to worry, we could take care of things. I remember Moana Howe doing that for us at Simon's funeral 4 years ago, and how good it felt not to have to worry about it.
