We are staying at the Atlantic Way B&B with Simon, Bindi, Mia and Charlie. They have come across from Dublin to meet us for the weekend. We went out exploring the area today. It rained most of the night, but it cleared up by the time we were ready to head out- which meant it would rain for 5 minutes, blue sky the next then back to rain showers 5 minutes later. It was about 3 degrees when we started out and we hit a top temperature of 6 degrees, There was a heavy dusting of snow on the mountains around us so quiet stunning.
This was the morning view of Benbulben Mountain. There was snow on the mountain!
Glencar Waterfall- a very pretty spot and a lovely drive in. There was also a beautiful lake.
This was another close up view of Benbulben Mountain- we did this lovely drive that took us right up close to the steep sides, very spectacular but rather chilly!
Another place we visited was Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery, which had a series of ancient burial tombs- very fascinating.
Then Simon, Bill and I walked up Knocknarea Mountain, which had a cairn for Queen Maeve. Stunning views up the top and some interesting history.
Just one of the many sheep we have seen while in Ireland. The black faces and legs really stand out.
