It is blog catch up day! Have done my Adelaide trip now for a a few other things. Bill and I recently went to the Connections Exhibition at the National Museum of Australia. It was excellent, showcasing Indigenous Art and Music.
Amy had friends coming over for dinner, one of them suggested Amy make a frog cake- this is what she came up with! It was a delicious carrot cake. I would have just done a plain cake, iced it and put on some chocolate frogs. Everyone was most impressed with her efforts.
At church we have just helped out with the annual Zonta Birth Kit Packing Service Project. It has been a yearly event for at least 12 years. We provide the space and the tables, they provide the materials and we pack birthing kits for women in developing countries. In the morning we fold a plastic bin liner and put it into a small zip lock bag. The liner provides a clean surface for women to give birth on. Then in the afternoon we put together 2 gloves, a small cake of soap, a small blade, some gauze pads and a length of string. These are then inserted into the zip lock bag, and then boxes of 100 are packed to send off overseas. This year we packed 1400 packs, last year 1000, in 2020 it was cancelled due to Covid. In 2019 pre covid 160 volunteers packed 4000 kits. Each kit cost $5 to assemble and post. It is such a worthwhile cause, and such simple items that make such a difference. We are lucky to live where we do and have access to the health system we have.
All set up Friday night ready to go.
The work begins Saturday
1400 boxes packed
