Amy and I were supposed to head to New Zealand last May but the trip was cancelled due to COVID. So it was time to go on a holiday and use up some of our travel credit, so we decided to head to South Australia and spend some time in Adelaide, Kangaroo Island and a couple of nights at Middleton near Victor Harbor. We had a great time.
We stayed in the city centre for two nights and explored Adelaide. While we have visited Adelaide numerous times to visit family it was nice to have time to explore the city. It has such lovely buildings.
I enjoyed my morning walks, checking out familar sites and ivoking childhood memories ( I spent my childhood in Adelaide) I enjoyed walking through the Parklands, alond the Torrens, saw the Popeye- we used to go on boat rides on the Torrens when we were kids!
We spent a morning wandering through the Central Markest which were just around the corner from where we were staying. Would have love to brought some of the flowers!
I remember these drink dispensers as a kid!
We went to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens which we really enjoyed. Above was the Lilly Glasshouse and the shots below were the Economic Museum of Botany which had an amazing collection of seeds in all shapes and sizes and the building was a beautiful old building that reminded us of the European museums.
The shots above and below was in the cactus and succulent conservatory.
Opposite where we were staying was a Tasting Australia Festival, so we went over one night and brought a meal from one of the many vendors that were selling food- very nice!
I enjoyed the Adelaide Botanic Gardens so much I went back from a early morning walk.
If you go to Adelaide you have to visit the Haighs Chocolate Factory so of course we did!
We visited Harndorf in the Adelaide Hills and enjoyed our day checking out the shops and local statues
I brought myself this little candle that spins around when you light the little tea candle below
We also headed down to Glenelg and went out to dinner with my cousin Geoff and his wife Fiona, we had a lovely time catching up with them and enjoyed the sunset on the beach.
