We have been busy with all the work with the granny flat I hadn't been keeping up with my blog, I thought I was only a month or two behind then when I checked I hadn't done anything all year so here are some catch up photos but not in any particular order.
At one stage when Lachlan was pulling the cable through the conduit from the main switch board to the granny flat the rope pulling the cable through broke right as it was coming around the final curve. This meant the tradie assistants- Bill and I had to dig down the trench to find the conduit so Lachlan could access the conduit and solve the problem. That was hard work digging trenches!
Later on in the process more trench digging up was required as when the trenches were filled in the guy doing it didn't lay down the warning tape about cables below. While the plumber and the builder were not too worried about it, Lachlan wanted the job done properly. He was prepared to dig up the trench and lay the tape himself, so Bill and I were back on the shovel and pick again and did it for him- it was hard work but we got it done.
One of the casualties of the build was our letterbox, someone, and we don't know who had backed into it and cracked some of the motar.
We never got to bottom of it, however to make matters worse Bill added more damage to the letterbox, and Amy and I were not impressed as it was with our car. While all the building was going on we move the cars out of the drive most days and then back in at night. The one night I didn't do it because I was tired and it was late, Bill offered to do it, I should have known better but he managed to put what he said was a "little scratch" on the passenger side of the car. The car was parked perpendicular to the letterbox, so I don't quite know how he managed it. The "little scratch" led to one door being replaced, one lower panel replaced,one door requiring panel beating and the whole side being repainted. Thank goodness for car insurance and needless to say we don't want Bill driving our car!
In the January school holidays I had Charlie over a couple of times to do some work around the house for us. He helped me stain the fence, we got 3/4 way through the first coat when we had to abandon due to rain and lots of it!
Charlie is very good at multitasking, he was able to watch things on his phone with one hand and paint with the other! It is only just this last week that I have finally finished the job - 2 coats with the help of the sister missionaries on the last few Thursday afternoons.
Back in January Amy, Kelly, Mia, Francine, Bindi and I went out for dinner at Kingston at Morks. We had orginally booked in in late November but we got bumped because of overbooking- as compensation we got a $400 voucher. We finally got ot use it and the six of us had a lovely night out.
The swans on the little Gordon Pond and their babies are really growing up, we walk past each week morning on our walk with the dogs and feed them cornflakes.
I plant sunflowers each year and love watching the different birds come and feed on them.
I recently started going to the "Veteran's Shed" in Tuggeranong. It is like a men's shed but women are welcome as well. I have made some bird stands for the macaws and they have proven popular with the birds. I want to lean how to use power tools and be a bit more handy around the house.
