Day 4 Dulmen, Germany to Genk, Belgium 183 km
Day 5 Genk to Anhee, Belgium - only 119 km- I was counting on this being a bit of a rest day, but it rained all day so it made it a tough day, we were just glad it wasn't any longer! Just over half way we got to the town of Huy a beAutiful town on the river. All the teams had to pass through this point as there was a short but steep hill to climb and there was a big lunch stop up the top. The hill was only 1.2 km but had some really steep sections in it and no breaks. Well I made it up the top so was very pleased, we had shelter up the top so that was good. Most of us had green plastic ponchos on under our rain jackets so it looked like we were in tutus! It was a hard two hours to Anhee with driving rain and wind. Glad to get into dry clothes.
Day 6 Anhee to Chamouille France 181 km. today we rode through three countries in one day. We started in Belgium, rode through some of The Netherlands and then into France. Weather was okay today, damp and misty in the morning and a couple of light shower, but then we hit dry roads in France. We rode through some lovely countryside and villages, found a field of sunflowers and even got to clean our bikes for the final day into Paris.
Here we are on the French Border
We had fun in the sunflower field.
