Tuesday Girls Return Home

We certainly enjoyed our stay in Tumbarumba, our final day was clearer and drier skies so a good day for travelling home. We had our morning walk  with a bit of fog hanging over us and enjoyed breakfast at our favourite Tumbarumba café- The Nest before heading home along the Elliot Way and through  Kosciusko National Park.

Our last morning walk along Tumbarumba Creek, it was foggy this morning but the sun was trying to come out.

Breakfast at the Nest Café

We headed home along the Elliot Way and then the Snowy Mountains Highway to Cooma. Not far out of Tumbarumba was the Henry Angel Track Head where you could walk along part of the Hume and Hovel track which goes from Yass to Albury. We took just a little stroll, didn't have time to do the whole thing!

Then a bit further on was the Paddy's River Falls which were certainly worth a visit.

T

Then as we were going right past them we called in at Braymont Gardens so we could see them without the rain.

We had to stop to allow a duck crossing to occur!

Then we had to begin the trip home up through the Kosciusko National Park, lots of windy roads and up and downs, really rugged and spectacular country.

Here is the Tumut River

Another shot of the Tumut River a bit further upstream- much more narrower and rocky.

\Getting closer to the top of the ranges, lots of dead trees, looked very stark.

Once we reached the summit and started down the other side, it was a much more open landscape

We even got to see some wild brumbies

We finally got back to relative civilisation at Adaminaby where we had lunch near the Big Trout, before heading through Cooma back to Canberra. We had a great Tuesday Girls Adventure yet again.

Tuesday Girls Adventure Part 2

It rained all night Saturday night, it eventually stopped in the morning and we managed our morning walk, still needed umbrellas and raincoats for the occasional shower.

Tumbarumba had some lovely parks and a cute playground and bike track for the kids. I was required to pose in front of the bike shop!

We have been enjoying the lovely autumn colours.

After breakfast we headed to Adelong about 50 minutes away, looked like a lovely country town.

We headed straight through the town while it appeared to be dry to the Adelong Falls Gold Mill Ruins. It was quite a place to discover.

With all the rain that had fallen overnight there was a lot of rapidly flowing water through the falls.

There were ruins from the gold mining days, it was a fascinating place to visit and not what we had expected.

We had to make our way down a rocky path to cross the river on this bridge.

The Tuesday Girls

We spent about and hour here before we headed back to Adelong, just as we made it back to the car the heavens opened and it was a heavy shower.

We waited out the rain in the car for about 10 minutes before heading down for a walk along Adelong Creek where we  could find more of the sculptures from the Snowy Mountain Sculpture Trail.

Adelong River was a pretty spot.

Next we headed to Nimbo Fork about 20 minutes the other side of Tumut. We had booked in for the Sunday Roast at the Three Blue Ducks restaurant, out in the sticks. It was a lovely drive out to Nimbo, which is in a valley alongside the Tumut River.

Here it is out in the bush.

We enjoyed a delicious slow roasted lamb shank with roast veggies for lunch which we thoroughly enjoyed.

We headed back into Tumut and thought we would walk along the Tumut River to help settle our lunch.
We had to retreat under the old bridge and a couple of other shelters as we encountered another heavy shower,

Then it was back to Tumbarumba with a short stop at this cute little shop selling handmade items for the local area at Batlow along the way.

Tuesday Girls Head to Tumbarumba

Deb, Kerrie and I (aka "The Tuesday Girls" ) headed to Tumbarumba for a short getaway. Discovering our local area was fun! We headed off on the Friday, making a detour into Yass to get our 1st breakfast at the Clementine Bakery and then Long Track Pantry at Jugiong for 2nd breakfast.

Top of the hill at Jugiong

Next was a quick stop to say hello to the Dog on the Tuckerbox, then we headed into Gundagai and went for a walk up and down the main street. It was a bit damp but we had our raincoats and umbrellas to keep us dry. The main street has been done up and they had some magnificent sculptures.

This one was a tribute to Yarri and Jacky who helped rescue nearly 70 people during the 1844  great flood where at least 75 people lost their lives.

Dad and Dave, Mum and Mabel.

We stopped in Tumut for lunch then finally arrived in Tumbarumba around 3:30pm.

We went for a quick wander around Tumbarumba, and discovered the "Heads It Is" sculpture, just one of many of the sculptures on the Snowy Mountain Sculpture Trail.

Tumbarumba Creek is very pretty, we walked along here each morning for our morning walk. A very pretty setting, and Tumbarumba we discovered was a delightful town.

Saw lots of lovely autumn colours

Our plan Saturday morning was to ride the rail trail but the weather put stop to that. It looked like it was just going to be showery so we thought we would head up to the hills and check out the Braymont Gardens.

However the rain decided it was going to be 'proper rain' and not just showers. We did enjoy the gardens despite the rain, we had umbrellas so ventured out.

This was a tree church where they hold weddings. They had silver birches being trained over the steel structure, it really was a pretty spot.

The rain started to get a bit too heavy so we retreated back to Tumbarumba but it stopped after lunch and we decided to explore Batlow. It was a pretty setting but the town itself was rather run down, it was bit sad to see that. The area had been hit by the 2019 bushfires which hasn't helped.

We visited the Apple Thief and brought some yummy apple ciders.

We have certainly enjoyed the magic of Tumbarumba and surrounds.
