Bill and I got up at 4:15am on ANZAC Day and went to the Dawn Service at the Australian War Memorial. Bill usually goes every year, we used to go as a family quite regularly up till the kids hit high school and found it harder to get up! I hadn't been for a number of years, but after our trip to Europe last year following in Bill's grandfathers footsteps and visiting Pozieres, where my great, great uncle Robert Middleton Bond was killed, I decided I should start going again, and glad I did. It was a moving ceremony and makes you reflect on what so many have done for our country, soldiers, their wives and their families. There was a real reverence to the morning and a wonderful way to start the day.
