Catching up on Life Post

Have been slack with my blog so trying to do a catch up of life lately. I had a super crop of loganberries this year so made loganberry jam- hadn't made jam for years so was pleased with this lot. Blogger is doing something weird on me so I can't put captions in. So you will just have to match the captions to the pictures. It is not even allowing me to put spaces between the lines, so I hope you can make sense of all this. I finally painted my garden bench I made in woodwork, so it has now found a home for it, very pleased with the result. Amy was threatening to shave of all her hair as the weight of it was annoying her and giving her tension headaches, so I took her to my hairdresser, she now has short hair and it looks great! 3 weeks ago I drove up to meet Lucy our 10 month old Havanese puppy. She has adjusted to Frost Family life pretty well. She is fine wit the birds, is super cute and has charmed her way into our hearts already. Mia is going on a mission for our church for 18 months to Samoa and her boyfriend Noah is off to South Korea on his mission.

RIP Little Jack

About a month ago we had to make the hard decision to say goodbye to Jack and have him put to sleep. It was a very sad day. He had been for his normal walk with Bill, sitting up in his pram, but when Bill brought him in he started to cough, and he just couldn't stop and was struggling to breathe. A phone call to the vet and they said to bring him in and they would triage him and see what could be done. Jack was 13 and had a heart murmur. It turns out Jack had fluid on his lungs, his heart was enlarged and he was struggling to breathe on his own. They put him in an oxygen tent and monitored him, the medication they gave him helped him but he was still unable to breathe on his own outside of the tent. Another dose of medication was given but with a similar result, so we made the decision to say goodbye. We let Lachlan know what was happening and he came up to the vet that afternoon at 5:30pm. We were all with him, when he peacefully left this world.

Lachlan's Yard

We have been busy working on Lachlan's backyard over the last couple of months. We called in John the Landscaper and he has done a great job to get a good framework set up and the yard looks good and is a lot more manageable.

Before Christmas I had someone come around and help me, the lawn was mowed and edges done, we worked out where the mulch would go, and that was cut really low and the weeds sprayed.

After Christmas, we ordered a big load of mulch, laid down cardboard, and Bill, Lachlan and I spread 8 cubic metres of mulch.

When that was done, John the landscaper got to work. There was paving out to the clothes line and ironbark sleepers put in.

And the retaining wall blocks we had cemented in.

Very pleased with the results.

Final step was to get the old concrete around the back of the garage dug up, the tan bark removed and replaced with road base.

Life in December

Finally catching up on some blog post. It has been a while.

Finally got into the Christmas spirit and set up some Christmas decorations.

Amy asked Abby to come and help her make up some succulent bowls for Christmas presents, so Lachlan and Abby came around on a Sunday afternoon and they spent a couple of hours working on them and helping Amy. It was lovely spending time with them and seeing Lachlan so happy.

The bowls looked lovely, it was a very productive day.

This was the Christmas Tree I made at woodwork class- was very happy with the result.

We had Jack and Luna dressed in Christmas mode for the day. We had a quiet Christmas Day, and then had Amy's friends Mars and Aiden over for dinner and Derek from next door over for Christmas Dinner. Lachlan and Abby came over on Boxing Day for a quiet dinner, it was the first time in a few years that Lachlan has been around at Christmas.

Amy did a glazed ham again, it was very yummy. Made good toasted sandwiches the next night when Abby and Lachlan came over.
