Pokemon Go Craze

Amy has got caught up in the Pokemon Go  craze that seems to be sweeping the nation, nothing to serious but it has got her out walking every day. We have been for our daily walks which some days are supposed to be 30 minutes or 15 minutes, they have turned into 40 minute and 50 minute walks some days and she voluntarily walked up a hill on our walk today- all I can say is thank goodness for Pokemon! Saturday afternoon we went down to Tuggeranong Park and joined hundreds of other people in the lovely sunshine looking for Pokemons.
Amy and Lyra out looking for Pokemon

Amy took Lyra with her which attracted a fair bit of attention. Lyra had her wings clipped when Amy got her when she was 3 months old, her wings have started to grow back and she is starting to fly a little bit so Amy took her out with her harness on. Lyra was not to impressed about the harness but enjoyed being outside.

It was a lovely day outside and nice walking around and talking to all sorts of people!

Snow in Canberra

Last Wednesday we got to a top of about 7 degrees. When we got up at 6 am to walk Luna it was gently snowing but not settling. Luna was not phased by the snow at all and we did our usual walk- only met one other person walking his dogs. We know  his dogs name- Mia and Mojo- little terriers, we don't know his name but each time we meet Luna gets a big pat from him, and Mojo will come up for a pat but Mia hides! When we got home the sun was just coming up and the cloud was lifting so you could see the snow all around- it looked really pretty but most was gone by about 10am. The most snow I have seen from our house in Canberra though.

Light dusting in our back yard

Bins had a light covering as well
Solar Panels were covered in snow- they won't be generating electricity for a while!

28th Wedding Anniversary

Bill and I celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary on Saturday 9th July. It was a very low key day, we spread mulch in the back yard together- very exciting, but we did go out to dinner later that night. Amy is cooking us dinner tonight, there is homemade French Onion Soup which she has made before and is very yummy and chocolate peppermint cheesecake!

Bill was saying he still thinks I spent too much money on our wedding- he is always going on about that, I would say it was one very cheap wedding. I borrowed my sister in law's dress, she was married 6 months earlier, my aunt who was a florist did the flowers, using camellias from my mum's garden and flowers from the local market. A friend did the photographs and different people took photos and gave us copies, we got married at a friends lovely house and he picked me up in his Mercedes and said he could drive me anywhere even if it wasn't to the wedding- it wasn't too late to change my mind! Our wedding was small and we had the reception at the Pine Grove Hotel in Upper Beaconsfield and it was a lunch. It was a simple wedding, pretty stress free, and it was special because so many people helped it lots of different ways.

Of course you cant think about our wedding without mentioning how many chocolate mousses my younger brother Simon ate at our wedding- ( he was 14) can't remember if it was 7 or 9 or 14- it keeps growing every time the story is told!

We have a frosty mornings each day this week, it was minus 4 and minus 5 most mornings with a lovely sunny day to follow. Even though it is cold it is pretty impressive when I have been riding to work, or walking Luna at 6:15am!

Even the rubbish bins had a frosty topping!

Later that night the dogs made themselves comfortable preparing to watch the Federal Election outcome.
