More Crazy Bird Photos

Eating my breakfast after my morning walk and Ziggy just decides he will fly over and help himself!

He obviously loves porridge!

Amy left the bird seed container on the bench, next thing you know Ziggy has flown over, pulled off the lid and then is right in the bird container helping himself!

Another time I gave him an empty tissue box to play with we put a walnut in it and this was the result!

We are bird sitting Bobby the eclectus for a month or so, he came over this week and has fitted in really well- loves the company of the other birds and he and Beau like each other which is good!

Lachlan's Birthday and Saying Goodbye to Bindi and Simon

Lachlan had his 25th birthday and as usual wants to do very little to celebrate it but we always manage to do something whether he likes it or not. It was Simon and Bindi's last night in Canberra before they fly to Dublin for 5 years, so we took a Turkish Banquet over to their hotel room for dinner. I made a lemon syrup cake for his birthday cake but forgot to take  a candle so we stuck a plastic knife in and sang Happy Birthday. All very low key, but we had a fun time.

Amy and I went in to the the hotel on Monday morning and transported their luggage to the airport for them. Bindi's parents were there as well so they took the bodies and we took the bags! We said our goodbye and Simon even gave Amy a hug- I don't think there was any teasing either! I am sure the 3 years will go quickly but I am sure Charlie and Mia will change a lot in the three years. Bill and I get to to see them in about 3 months anyhow!

Ziggy the Macaw Relaxing and Beau the Eclectus Making a Mess

One of Ziggy's favourite spot to hang out is on the top of the hat on top of Amy's hat stand. As you can see  he looks very comfortable and very cute so I had to take a few shots.

Beau and Lyra often join us for dinner with a little plate of food. Lyra wasn't too interested in the mashed potatoes, peas and gravy, but Beau certainly was. He made such a mess but was having a wonderful time. Afterwards Ziggy who gets put in his cage while we eat dinner got to finish off Beau's dinner- it was Beau who made the mess!

Ziggy enjoying his dinner!

More Catch Up Photos- Sydney

I got some photos of Vivid- however not many as I managed to muck up my camera however it gives you a bit of an idea of what was on offer.

Monday morning was a lovely clear morning and I went for a nice long walk, through Hyde Park, around the Botanical Gardens with lovely  view of the harbour, the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge- you never get tired of walking past all these wonderful sights.

Catch Up

I have been neglecting my blog of late- having been called to be Relief Society President at church seems to have taken up lots of my time! A fair bit has happened in the last month. Lachlan has finally started back at work after having about 4 months off, he seems to have slotted right back into the tradie hours- up just after 5am and gone by 6:15am. He has been employed by NECA and working on the new National Archives building at Mitchell and is back on track to complete his electrical apprenticeship sometime in the next 12 months- that is a big relief. Now we just have to find Amy a job!

I have been to Sydney twice in the last two weeks. Amy and I went up to see Georgy Girl which was on at the State Theatre. We got a package at the Grace Hotel and had a lovely room there and breakfast the following morning. We loved the show- it was the story of Judith Durham and the Seekers- the music was fabulous and it is a beautiful theatre. We got to check out Vivid - the Sydney light festival which was great but so crowded around Circular Key. We had a lovely weekend.

Two weeks later Lachlan, Amy and I headed up to Sydney to visit Jos and Steve. We left Bill at home to look after the birds and Jack, we left Luna in charge of looking after Bill- Luna has become the "enforcer" she is better at keeping Ziggy in line than Bill is!

Lachlan needed to come with Amy and I as he had to do some secret men's business with Chris- Chris is getting married in November and Lachlan is one of the groomsman so the boys went suit shopping. Sunday afternoon we went up to Cumberland Forest for afternoon tea with Thela- who is 94, Chris's grandma, Bill's aunt and Amy and Lachlan's great aunt. It was sunny but cool and they had blankets to keep you warm- no heating in Sydney! Amy arranged the blanket on Christopher. The cousins had a lovely time catching up and we had a very relaxing weekend away and Bill behaved  himself under Luna's supervision!
