Mia and Charlie for a Day

Charlie and Mia came over for a day last week and I had great fun playing Auntie! They just adored little Jack our dog, it was like having a live teddy bear or doll to play with and Jack just lapped it up. After a cold start it was a beautiful sunny day so we caught the bus into Tuggeranong and went to the movies and saw Ice Age 4, I had to divide up the Maltesers as Mia said Charlie would eat them all and we would only get 2 each if we were lucky! We then headed down to Macca's and had lunch by the lake and fed the ducks and the swans some bread. Time to catch the bus home and then we took Jack and Clancy for a walk, played lots of games- Man Bites Dog, Beetle, Kerplunk, Mastermind, Star Wars Chess- glad I kept them all. Mia and Charlie invented new ways to use our cross trainer! I think I was the tiredest by the end of the day, but it was lots of fun!

Knee Progressing Well

2 1/2 weeks ago I had a knee arthroscopy, first surgery I have had in about 25 years, and the first time I have really had to go through a recovery and rehabilitation process and it has meant I have not been able to ride my bike and have been housebound for a while. I am now back driving which is great, but do not always have a car! I have been on the wind trainer- which means I hook my bike into a metal stand and can ride the bike stationary. I started off doing 10 to 15 minutes with absolutely no tension and now I up doing 2 lots of 30 minutes a day if I can, and have been able to add a bit of tension which has been good. I have been religiously doing my exercises and having phyiso- at work which is great. I am walking the dogs with Bill in the morning but leaving a bit later with Clancy and meeting him with the other dogs and just walking on the paths and that has been getting easy each day. Hopefully in 4 to 6 weeks it will back to normal and I will be back on my road bike on the road! I have had to really be carefully with what I eat as I am not burning off as much energy because I am not riding as much!

Help With My Exercises

I have a number of exercises to do after having my knee arthroscopy, on of which involves lying on the bed with my leg elevated for a few minutes. I was attempting to do this, when next minute Jack and Benji decided they needed to help me! Clancy just supervised from the basket!

We traveled up to Sydney last weekend for Bill's Aunt's 90th birthday. We had a lovely time and it was also a family reunion. Jim (Bill's dad and Thela's little brother 88) and his wife Marian traveled over from Adelaide,  Bill sister Mary and her family travelled down from Darwin, Hilary and her family travelled from Melbourne. Jim and Thela had a sister Pat, who died of breast cancer a number of years ago, has three children who live in New Zealand, and they all travelled over for the weekend as well. It was a lovely time and a great opportunity for some photos.
