New Bike Ready To Ride To Work

Very proud of myself, managed to work out all by myself how to undo the basket from my old bike and transfer it to the new bike. I am already to ride my new bike to work tomorrow .

New City Bike

Check out my new city bike I got today with my tax refund. It is my ride to work bike, red and shiny with black mudguards and a chain cover so I will not need to tuck my jeans into my socks! It is cool to ride and a lot lighter than the old clunker I was riding to work.

Knee Rehabilitation and Snow

Went for a walk around the Gordon Pond this morning and got some lovely views of the snow on the mountains, no wonder it was such a cold day yesterday! It was also the first time I have done that walk in about 8 weeks, it is my longest walk to date since my knee operation and it finally feels almost normal. I am back riding my bike with no problems, still building up strength, but walking has taken a lot longer, but the last few days have seen improvements in the walking so I am really pleased. My knee still feels tired and weaker than my other knee, but definitely on the mend! Thank goodness as it is only two weeks till we leave for Europe!

Pre Trip Homework

It is two weeks till Bill and I leave on our Battlefields of WW1 Trip- following in the footsteps of his Grandfather who served as a signaller in Belgium and France. This will be our first overseas trip together- apart from our honeymoon to New Zealand and a trip to New Zealand last year. So I am looking forward to it! In preparation I went to the War Memorial this week to brush up on my World War 1 history of the area his grandfather served in.

Drama in the World of Dogs

Jack and Clancy keeping warm!

Amy has been working as a dog groomer since late April this year, it turns out the owners were looking to sell and were not putting a whole lot of work into the business. Amy was trained up by one of the staff who had been wanting to leave for a while and after two months she finally got to leave. This left Amy running the place on her own with the occasional extra help but was very hard on her and she was not enjoying it. The business was finally sold and the new owners took over this week. They are more committed and are working already to build the business up, this has meant a lot more work for Amy and so she has worked some pretty long hours this week which has left her worn out. Fortunatley the new boss appears to be good and is appreciative of Amy's efforts so hopefully once they get a few more staff things will not be so hectic and she will go back to enjoying her work more. It has been quite a learning experience.

Few More Brisbane Shots

It is hard to believe that last weekend we were up in Brisbane, you certainly come back to earth with a thud after being away sometimes! While in Brisbane we went to an Italian Restaurant friends had told us about called Vapiano's. It is a German chain and they have one in Brisbane and the Gold Coast and are about to open one in Melbourne. It is a pasta and pizza bar, you go up and order and they make it all up in front of you. It was lovely, the top picture is our Caprese Salad! Everything made on the premise and they have fresh herbs growing on pots on your table so you can add more if you want! Really enjoyed getting to know Brisbane and also enjoyed the lovely mild weather! We will be sure to go back in winter again.
